Metalworking Intensive II: MARCH
Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 7:00 PM - Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 10:00 PM (EST)
Somerville, United States
Build on your metalworking skills from Metalworking Intensive I or previous experience! In this class, we will take on more advanced metalworking projects fabricated with steel tubes, sheet, and plate. Like Metalworking Intensive I, students will work out their learner's mistakes while building furniture, tools and infrastructure for the Asylum.
This intermediate level course will give students time to hone their skills on the drill press, heating/cutting torch, plasma torch, band saws, sheet metal and pipe bending tools, and introductory lathe use. It assumes basic competency with hand drill, angle grinder, MIG welding, and abrasive cutting saws.
This month, students will be building a tube bender for the Asylum metalworking shop, similar to this model: http://www.hossfeldbender.com/benders/model-2-bender-standard.php
- Build on introduction to metal fabrication skills from Metalworking Intensive I.
- Learn about fitting up joints that aren’t square.
